Ranking the Cats
Rivals released its final rankings for the Class of 2013, and a total of nine Northwestern commits are ranked at their positions while 11 more are ranked in their home states.
Ironically, the two highest-ranked prospects at their positions in the Wildcats' 19-member class both play the same spot. Tyler Lancaster is the No. 6 center in the nation, and three spots behind him, at No. 9, sits Brad North.
The lone four-star prospect in the class is quarterback Matt Alviti, who is ranked as the No. 11 dual-threat quarterback in the country, one spot higher than he had been rated.
Northwestern has a total of four players listed as athletes in the class, and two of them are ranked. Godwin Igwebuike, who could play on the offensive or defensive side of the ball in Evanston, is ranked 39th. Kyle Queiro, who will start his career at cornerback, is 53rd.
The Wildcats have three running backs in this class, and two of them are ranked at the position. The catch is that Keith Watkins, who comes in at No. 34, was recruited as a cornerback by the Wildcats. Warren Miles Long, who will be in the backfield for the purple, went from unranked to 52nd after a strong senior season.
Of the 11 Northwestern pledges ranked among the best in their states, four are from Illinois and four more are from Ohio:
