The Wildcats jumped on U of C right out of the gates as Crawford threw down a dunk following the opening tip. Northwestern opened the game on a 9-2 run and never looked back. The advantage was 11-5 when NU scored 11 of the game's next 13 points to stretch the advantage to 15 midway through the period.
The lead was 37-18 at the break as Crawford had seven points and seven rebounds and Tre Demps came off the bench to score a team-high eight points over the opening 20 minutes of play. NU held Chicago to 7-for-31 shooting in the first half.
The Maroons hit a pair of early 3-pointers to get back within 14 in the opening minutes of the second stanza. However, two baskets by Crawford and one apiece by Olah and Jared Swopshire pushed the lead back up to 22 with just over 15 minutes left and the 'Cats cruised the rest of the way.
Demps hit all three of his 3-point attempts in the contest and finished with 11 points. Eleven different Wildcats played at least 10 minutes in the contest as the contest gave head coach Bill Carmody an opportunity to see everyone in action.
Northwestern shot 41.7 percent from the field (25-60), including connecting on eight 3-pointers.
Charlie Hughes and Sam Gage led the Maroons with 10 points apiece.
