Hiller is Northwestern's third commit of the week

It’s been quite a spring break for Northwestern.

Safety Austin Hiller of Austin (Texas) Lake Travis announced his commitment to the Wildcats on Thursday, giving NU its third commitment of the week.

Hiller, a 6-foot-2, 201-pounder, was offered by Northwestern on March 15. He chose the Wildcats over offers from the Ivy League and several other FBS programs, including SMU and Tulsa.

Hiller's pledge follows on the heels of those of defensive ends Earnest Brown and Trevor Kent, who each committed on Tuesday night. Hiller committed on Wednesday night but officially announced his commitment on Thursday.

A Texas sports writers association first-team all-state defense pick, Hiller helped lead Lake Travis to a 15-1 overall record and a runner-up finish in the state playoffs in 2015. The Cavaliers lost the state championship game to Katy, which featured a pair of Northwestern Class of 2016 commits in Travis Whillock and Paddy Fisher.

Hiller is Northwestern’s seventh commitment overall, and its fifth defensive player.
