Local WR is commit No. 14 for Northwestern

Just two days after earning a scholarship offer, wide receiver Jace James committed to Northwestern on Sunday to become the 14th member of the Wildcats’ Class of 2017.

The 6-foot-1, 185-pounder from Carol Stream (Ill.) Glenbard North attended the Northwestern Showcase on Friday, where he impressed coaches with his performance in drills and ran a 4.58 40-yard dash. The Wildcats became the first Power Five school to offer him a scholarship based on his showing.

James picked the Wildcats over six other offers, including Ball State, Buffalo and Western Michigan from the MAC. He is the first wide receiver in the class, which is currently ranked 14th in the nation by Rivals.

James hails from the same high school as star Northwestern tailback Justin Jackson.
