Mabin named FWAA Freshman All-America

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Redshirt freshman Jordan Mabin (Northfield Center, Ohio/Nordonia) has been named a Freshman All-American by the Football Writers Association of American and Aon Insurance, the FWAA announced on Jan. 8 during its annual awards breakfast.
Mabin appeared in all 13 games this year for the Wildcats, starting the final 11. He compiled 52 tackles (2.0 for loss) while leading the team with three interceptions. He also broke up an additional five pass attempts, forced two fumbles and recovered another.

Mabin was honored as the Northwestern Gridiron Network's Defensive Newcomer of the Year at the NGN football banquet Saturday, Dec. 13.
Each member of the FWAA team will receive a custom-designed mini helmet courtesy of Schutt Sports, the world's leading maker of football helmets and faceguards. The team is selected by a 11-person panel of writers led by Mike Griffith of the Knoxville News Sentinel. Both true freshmen and redshirt freshmen were considered for the team and are so noted. A total of 116 players were nominated for the team and considered by the committee.
In addition to this award, Mabin is a Sporting News All-Freshman first-team honoree, a member of the Phil Steele All-Freshman first team and a Rivals.com Freshman All-America second-team award winner.
