Northwestern added a little speed to its 2019 class on Sunday when three-star cornerback Roderick Heard of Farmington Hills (Mich.) Harrison committed to head coach Pat Fitzgerald.

The 5-foot-11, 165-pounder chose Northwestern over 17 other offers, including a recent one from Michigan.

Heard announced his commitment on Twitter.

Heard didn’t take long to make up his mind to become a Wildcat. He was impressed by a December visit to the school and picked up an offer on March 2.

Heard is the fourth member of the Wildcats’ Class of 2019, joining quarterback Cale Millen, linebacker Bryce Gallagher and superback Thomas Gordon.
