Shurna is back

Northwestern got some good news from doctors on Friday: star forward John Shurna has been cleared to play against Illinois on Saturday at Welsh-Ryan Arena (noon).
The Wildcats' leading scorer has been sidelined since suffering a concussion in an 81-70 loss to Minnesota on Jan. 26. He missed Northwestern's 58-57 loss to Ohio State last Saturday, when the Wildcats came within a half-court heave at the buzzer of knocking off the top-ranked Buckeyes.

Coach Bill Carmody cautioned that it's been more than a week since the 6-foot-8 junior has practiced.
"I'm not really counting on him right now because I haven't seen him," Carmody told the Chicago Tribune, which first reported the story.
Shurna is also still recovering from the high-ankle sprain he suffered more than a month ago. He practiced on Friday without any contact, according to the Tribune.
