Wiederkehr is second Monday commit for NU

Northwestern is on a recruiting roll.

The Wildcats landed their second commit of the day and third in two days when three-star offensive tackle Ethan Wiederkehr joined the Class of 2017 on Monday night.

The 6-foot-6, 285-pounder from Shoreham (N.Y.) Shoreham-Wading River announced his decision on Twitter:

Northwestern had long been a favorite for Weiderkehr, whose father Hans played in the NFL. Wiederkehr chose the Wildcats over 15 other offers, including Boston College, Louisville, Maryland, Pittsburgh, Purdue, Rutgers, Syracuse and Wake Forest from the Power Five.

Wiederkehr is the 16th overall commitment of the 2017 class, and his pledge boosted Northwestern's group to 12th in Rivals' national rankings. He is the third offensive lineman of the group, joining Sam Gerak and Rashawn Slater.

Wiederkehr’s commitment followed on the heels of wide receiver Jace James and kicker Charlie Kuhbander, who pledged the Wildcats on Sunday and Monday, respectively.
