Northwestern landed a commitment from wide receiver Berkeley Holman of Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco for 2017. Now the Wildcats are going after the guy who throws him passes, 2018 quarterback Re-Al Mitchell.

Mitchell, a three-star prospect, received a message from Northwestern head coach Pat Fitzgerald last Friday requesting a phone call. Mitchell decided to call Fitzgerald back after St. John Bosco’s California Southern Section championship game, not wanting to lose any focus as he prepared for the game.

So on Saturday, Mitchell went out and ran for 131 yards and two touchdowns and threw for 61 yards to lead the Braves to a win over Santa Ana Mater Dei to win the title. Then on Sunday he called Fitzgerald to pick up a scholarship offer from the Wildcats.

That’s a pretty good weekend.
