Let's see, its Homecoming at Purdue.
Last year the Boilermakers travelled to Ryan and beat us at
home in our Homecoming game! Sounds like its time for some paybacks....
Maybe, maybe not.
When you read the various stories about the Wildcats this week, you
sense a lot of questions. Why hasn't Damien Anderson rolled through
the Big 10 with 200+ yard games? What's wrong with the Defensive Line?
Whats wrong with the offensive line? How do our Cats recover
from 2 conference losses halfway through the season? Why aren't we playing
like we did last year?
And the answer is.... nobody knows!
The Cats have the top offensive player in the Big 10 in Zak Kustok.
They throw to 12 different receivers successfully, our backs average over
4 yards per carry, even with 8 in the box. Our defense plays brilliantly
one game, then just rolls over the next.
We're 4-2 with a real chance to go 9-2, or wind up 4-7. If the team
that rolled over MSU and Duke
shows up, its a bad day in Ross-Ade for Homecoming, but if the team that
got steamrollered in Columbus shows
up...
Then comes word from Purdue that the Boilermakers are aiming to revive
their running game this week (just like Joe Pa did?). An article in
has several quotes from the Boiler running backs, about how the week off
gave them time to work on technique. However, Purdue is starting 4 first
year players on the O-Line, which probably contributes to the rushing pace,
but this is the time of year when O-lines really start to come together.
Published reports have several Purdue O-Linemen ready to play after sitting
out due to some minor injuries
Meanwhile, rain and poor drainage forced Purdue to practice inside Tuesday.
Isn't it great to get a bye week before a big game?
