Slater is fourth 2017 commit for Northwestern

The 10-win 2015 season seems to be paying off for Northwestern.

Three-star offensive lineman Rashawn Slater committed to the Wildcats today to become the fourth member of the Class of 2017.

The 6-foot-5, 275-pounder from Sugar Land (Texas) Clements chose Northwestern over offers from Illinois, Kansas, Rice, SMU and Wyoming. He is the No. 85 player in Texas, according to Rivals, and will play guard for the Wildcats.

Slater told WildcatReport that Northwestern was his No. 1 school after a visit in December. He rated that visit a “10” and said “it was really eye-opening.”

Slater is the second offensive lineman in Northwestern’s class, joining Sam Gerak. Linebacker Blake Gallagher and defensive lineman Sam Miller are Northwestern’s other two verbal pledges.

Slater holds a 3.85 GPA. His area recruiter is linebackers coach Randy Bates.
