The 6-foot-2, 215-pounder picked up an offer from Fitzgerald this morning, in the coach's office, shortly before today's open spring practice. He committed just a few hours later, after the practice.
"I know I wanted to be a Wildcat," he said. "It was a pretty easy decision."
After practice, Dan accompanied his brother into Fitzgerald's office and was there when Tommy pulled the trigger.
Fitzgerald, said Tommy, couldn't have been happier.
"He was really excited," said Vitale. "He gave me a big bear hug."
Vitale will play outside linebacker for the Wildcats, though the coaching staff is not sure if he will ultimately be on the weak or strong side.
Ironically, both members of Northwestern's 2015 class are linebackers. Middle linebacker Nathan Fox committed on Tuesday to become the first member of the group.
