An insider's look at Purdue

Talk about a big win. Purdue was coming off of a pair of demoralizing double-figure losses, to Wisconsin and Iowa, when they went into Champaign last Saturday and knocked off Big Ten West front-runner Illinois.

Suddenly, it’s the Boilermakers who are in prime position in the wide-open and wild West with two weeks to go.

Purdue (6-4, 4-3 Big Ten) is in a four-way tie for the lead in the division. No team controls its own destiny, but the Boilers have the most advantageous remaining schedule: Northwestern and Indiana are a combined 2-12 in conference play.

So Purdue has plenty to play for against the Wildcats on Saturday, which is also Senior Day and the Boilers' last home game of the season.

We talked to Tom Dienhart of GoldandBlack.com to get the inside scoop on the Boilermakers. Here is our Q&A:


Q. Coming off of two straight losses, Purdue went into Champaign and knocked off Illinois and now has a pretty good shot at winning the Big Ten West. How big was that win for the Boilermaker program?
