Ariguzo is B1G Defensive Player of Week

Northwestern linebacker Chi Chi Ariguzo has been named the Big Ten's Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Wildcats' 23-13 win over Vanderbilt on Saturday night.
The redshirt sophomore from Gahanna (Ohio) St. Francis DeSales notched 10 tackles and three tackles for loss, both career highs. He also recorded the first sack of his NU career, resulting in a seven-yard loss.

Ariguzo helped Northwestern (2-0) limit the Vanderbilt offense to 101 yards rushing. The Commodores could manage just three points and 86 yards of total offense in the second half as the Wildcats rallied with 17 points in the fourth quarter for their second straight comeback win.
The weekly award is Ariguzo's first, and he is the first Wildcat to claim it since linebacker Quentin Davie in September of 2010.
This marks the second time in as many weeks that a Wildcat has been honored by the Big Ten. Venric Mark was named the conference's Special Teams Player of the Week for his play in the Wildcats' season-opening win over Syracuse.
