It didn’t take long for Chee Anyanwu to become a Wildcat.

The linebacker prospect from Buford (Ga.) just picked up an offer from the Wildcats on Thursday after decommitting from Richmond. Then on Saturday, during his official visit in Evanston, he pulled the trigger to become the 19th member of Northwestern’s Class of 2017.

The unranked 6-foot-2, 190-pound announced his decision on Twitter.

Anyanwu remained under the radar in this recruiting cycle because he tore his hamstring early in the season. He played safety at Buford, a Georgia powerhouse program, but was offered as a Sam linebacker by the Wildcats.

Ironically, this is the second time that Northwestern has added a player from Buford late in a class. In 2015 the Wildcats offered safety Steven Reese in January and he became one of the last pledges of the class.
