Roderick Heard committed to Northwestern on Sunday to become the fourth member of the Class of 2019.

But the truth is, the three-star cornerback from Farmington Hills (Mich.) Harrison had made up his mind to become a Wildcat long before that. After visiting Evanston for the Iowa game last October and a bowl practice in December, he was sold on the program and the school. Not even a scholarship offer from Michigan could sway him.

So when Heard received his offer from Northwestern on March 2, it was just a matter of when, and not if, he would commit. That turned out to nine days later, when he called head coach Pat Fitzgerald to make his verbal commitment.

Heard opens up about his decision in this WildcatReport premium recruiting story.
