Miller Kopp made things much harder on himself this summer.
His impressive play for the Houston Defenders AAU club has transformed him from a relatively under-the-radar prospect to a major one, picking up a host of offers along the way. Georgetown, Georgia Tech and Ole Miss are the three most recent schools to add their names to his list after the July evaluation period, bringing his total to 27.
That has made his decision process much more difficult. The 6-foot-7, 210-pound, three-star forward once had a pretty solid list of five schools that were leading the way in June: Houston, Kansas State, Northwestern, Vanderbilt and Wichita State. Then, he added Texas A&M and Butler to his top group after they offered him scholarships that month. Now he’s got even more schools to think about.
That’s what happens when you average a team-high 20.2 points, 5.3 rebounds and a team-best 24 steals over 15 games for the Defenders during the Under Armour Associate schedule that is so crucial to recruiting.
But Kopp has his recruiting plan in place. The No. 128 player in the country expects to release his top “four or five pretty soon,” either by the end of this week or the middle of next week. Then, he will take official visits to each of them before making a final decision so that he can sign during the early signing period in November.
