Many players say that Northwestern is a football family. It's the program's Twitter handle, as a matter of fact.

But for superback signee Charlie Mangieri, the family end of it is literal: his uncles both played linebacker for Northwestern. Ed Sutter played from 1988-91, while Danny Sutter played from 1992-95 and was a teammate of head coach Pat Fitzgerald on the Wildcats' legendary Rose Bowl team as a senior.

He had older brothers that played at different schools in the Big Ten - P.J. played at Nebraska, Nick at Indiana. But Charlie decided to follow the trail blazed by his uncles to Evanston.

Get to know the guy they call "Chuck."

What does signing day mean to you? Signing day means a sigh of relief knowing that all of my hard work has paid off but I also know it’s just a beginning of another 4-5 years.

No. 1 reason you chose Northwestern: Knowing the coaching staff is going nowhere is nice and the new facility is going to be one of the best in the nation!

Highlight of your high school career: (Charlie took this literally and gave us a link to his senior highlight film on Hudl.)

One unique thing about you that very few people know: I was just named a 2017-18 Illinois State Scholar.
