Jason Whittaker had already collected seven offers, including three from Power Five schools, when he arrived for his overnight visit to Northwestern on Friday.
With 14 months until signing day the three-star quarterback could have waited to see if he got more offers. Instead, the Rockford (Mich.) star committed to head coach Pat Fitzgerald on Saturday to abruptly end his recruitment and become the first member of Northwestern’s Class of 2018.
Whittaker says that he found what he was looking for at Northwestern, the school that he called his favorite even before he picked up an offer on Nov. 29. To him, there was no reason to wait, even if more offers might have come his way.
Why was he so enamored with Northwestern? Let him tell you the reasons.
