Jaylen Rivers only needed one visit to convince him that he wanted to be a Wildcat. He visited in late May and committed just two days later.

While Rivers will play outside linebacker for Northwestern, he wouldn't mind following in the footsteps of former middle linebacker Anthony Walker Jr.

Rivers, in fact, has an interesting connection to the former All-Big Ten performer. Rivers' father and Walker's father were both athletes together at Georgia State a couple decades ago. Rivers' father was a football player, while Walker's played basketball.

What does signing day mean to you? Signing Day to me is another stepping stone in my life. I worked hard for this moment, and I sacrificed a lot of things to make it to this point. It is a blessing to know that I will be able to continue my education and football career.

No. 1 reason you chose Northwestern: I chose Northwestern University because I feel like they will develop me into the best person and player I can be.

Three words that describe head coach Pat Fitzgerald: Passionate, sincere and diligent

Potential major: I want to take the pre-med track. I will probably major in biology or chemistry.

Favorite movie: Batman: The Dark Knight

Favorite music artist: Young Thug

Funniest guy in the class of 2018: Jeremiah McDonald

Role model as a player: Sean Taylor. I love the passion and instinct he had while playing the game. When I go and look back at his highlights he flew around and was always near the ball making a play.

One unique thing about you that very few people know: I can somewhat play the keyboard, and I was in the band in middle school.
