Northwestern has assigned numbers to the incoming freshmen and transfers to the program this fall.

Here are the jersey numbers to keep an eye on, and a note on the number they are wearing.

13-Quarterback Andrew Marty: Northwestern's newest QB will wear the same number as former Wildcat and current Denver Bronco signal caller Trevor Siemian.

16-Wide receiver Kyric McGowan. The speedy slot man and potential returner will mirror safety Godwin Igweduike's number.

17-Wide receiver transfer Jalen Brown. The redshirt junior transfer from Oregon dons the same number as former WR and captain Rashad Lawrence.

18-Cornerback Cameron Ruiz. Ruiz will mirror quarterback Clayton Thorson's number.

22-Safety Bryce Jackson. No. 22 previously belonged to safety Parrker Westphal, who now wears No. 11.

25-Safety Austin Hiller. The Texas DB will mirror the number of running back Corey Acker.

28-Safety JR Pace. The Georgia DB will mirror the number of running back Jeremy Larkin.

33-Wide receiver Jace James. The wideout from Carol Stream (Ill.) Glenbard North (the same alma mater of Justin Jackson) will mirror safety Travis Whillock's number.

34-Safety Chee Anyanwu. Former running back and current linebacker Warren Long last wore 34.

35-Linebacker Erik Mueller. The walkon wears the number once worn by linebacker Ben Johnson.

37-Punter Cody Gronewold. The walkon punter resurrects the number of former Wildcat kicking great Jeff Budzien.

40-Linebacker Peterson McIntyre. Fans will remember former superback and current Cleveland Brown Dan Vitale wearing No. 40.

48-Longsnapper Peter Snodgrass. Linebacker Rod Goodlow recently wore No. 48.

50-Center Sam Gerak. The Ohioan will mirror linebacker Jango Glackin's number.

51-Linebacker Blake Gallagher. The middle linebacker will wear the same number his head coach made famous at Northwestern.

70-Offensive lineman Rashawn Slater. Defensive tackle John Gill wore 70 well in the mid-2000s.

76-Offensive lineman Ethan Wiederkehr. Eric Olson's number doesn't go dormant long and will be worn by another tackle.

80-Superback Trey Pugh. Star WR Austin Carr's number doesn't stay dormant for long.

82-Wide receiver Alex Oelsner. Superback Jayme Taylor, who retired from football due to injury last season, last wore No. 82.

83-Wide receiver Will Lansbury. The walkon will mirror the number of superback Heath Reineke.

87-Defensive end Trevor Kent. The Kansan will mirror the number of superback Eric Eshoo.

89-Wide receiver Berkeley Holman. Fans might remember that WR Ross Lane wore No. 89 early in his career before switching to 9.

91-Defensive tackle Sam Miller. The Texan, whose older brother Alex is also on the roster, will wear former DT Brian Arnfelt's number.

93-Defensive tackle Joe Spivak. The walkon celebrity may remind fans of a shorter version of former DT Niko Mafuli, who also wore 93.

98-Defensive end Earnest Brown. Former DE Deonte Gibson wore 98 and would be a good player for Brown to emulate.

Note: Trey Klock, a redshirt junior transfer offensive lineman from Georgia Tech, is not yet listed on the Northwestern roster.
