Northwestern adds OL Stovall to 2018 class

Class of 2018 offensive lineman Sam Stovall texted three words to WildcatReport on Monday morning about his official visit to Northwestern over the weekend.

"It was amazing!"

The two-star prospect from Chattanooga (Tenn.) Notre Dame showed just how impressed he was later in the day when he committed to the Wildcats to become the 17th member of the 2018 class.

Stoval, a 6-foot-5, 285-pounder, announced his commitment on Twitter:

Stovall had been a Western Kentucky commitment and was ready to sign with the Hilltoppers last month. But Northwestern offered him a scholarship on Dec. 19, the day before the start of the early signing period, and changed his plans.

He immediately decided to delay signing and set up an official visit to NU. He then decommitted from Western Kentucky in early January.

Stovall and his parents arrived in Evanston on Friday for the visit and left on Sunday. One day after returning he gave his verbal commitment to head coach Pat Fitzgerald.

Stovall will sign with Northwestern on national signing day, Feb. 7, to become the fourth offensive lineman in the class.

The other 16 members of the 2018 class signed with Northwestern on Dec. 20.
