Pace commits to Northwestern with style

J.R. Pace committed to Northwestern on Sunday in what is big news in and of itself. But the way the coveted three-star athlete announced his commitment may have made an even bigger splash.

The College Park (Ga.) Woodward Academy standout tweeted a slickly produced 3-minute, 7-second video to declare that he was committing to Northwestern over 20 other programs, including finalists Boston College, Duke and Vanderbilt.

The video, titled “A Day in the Life of Franchise” (Franchise is Pace’s nickname), follows him on a typical day, from waking up at 3:30 a.m. for a workout, to school, and then another workout. He closes it by donning a Northwestern cap and jersey and saying, “Chicago, get ready. Here comes Franchise.”

Pace told WildcatReport in March that he want to study business or pre-med in college, but the video shows that he may be interested in Radio, Television & Film, as well.

Pace, a 6-foot-1, 170-pounder, was recruited as a safety by Northwestern, but he could play other positions, as well. He is ranked as the No. 31 athlete in the nation and No. 35 overall prospect in Georgia.

Pace becomes the 13th member of the Wildcats Class of 2017, which is now ranked 13th in the country.
