MORE: Official visit weekend already pays off l Northwestern set to host first batch of official visitors
Northwestern's first official visit weekend for the 2024 class wound up netting two commitments from the state of Michigan, one from the Upper Peninsula and one from the Lower Peninsula.
Offensive lineman Callen Campbell, from Sault Ste. Marie in the UP, committed to the Wildcats on Sunday morning. Then, some 10 hours later, Coopersville offensive lineman Gabe VanSickle joined him.
VanSickle's tweet was a simple two-word message: "Found home!!"
VanSickle, a three-star prospect, ended his recruitment quickly. He picked up an offer from Northwestern on May 10 and was a Wildcat just four days later, after his weekend official visit.
Offensive line coach Kurt Anderson telegraphed an offensive line commitment when he tweeted a Hulk Hogan NWO gif earlier in the day. It turned out to be VanSickle.
Campbell's commitment didn't come as much of a surprise, either. He told WildcatReport that he was sold on the Wildcat program after receiving his offer earlier this month. On Friday, we wrote, "We wouldn't be surprised if the Michigan UP native winds up a Wildcat soon."
VanSickle is the third member of the Wildcats' Class of 2024 and its first offensive lineman. He and Campbell join tight end Patrick Schaller, who was also an official visitor over the weekend.
More to come from WildcatReport.
